This area of ministry consists of many different components including faith sharing groups, service, retreats, and liturgy ministry. Three main goals of Youth Ministry are: to empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today, to draw young people to responsible participation in life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith community, and to foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person. (Goals are from the Archdiocesan level)

Youth Faith Formation Registration Information
Our Wednesday night youth programs at Sacred Heart are open to all public school youth from Kindergarten through 12th grade. Sacred Heart grade school children are welcome to attend of course as well if desired, but they are already getting religion lessons in their classrooms everyday, so their attendance on Wednesday nights is optional.
Classes meet twice per month on Wednesdays. K-8 meets from 6:00-7:30 in the Sacred Heart School classrooms, and high school students meet from 6:15-8:00 in the Sacred Heart School gym.
Registration is completely online--no paper forms. See link in the "Online Forms" section below. The handbook can be found HERE:Parent Handbook
2024-2025 Youth Faith Formation Calendar
2nd graders will be preparing for 1st Reconciliation on 12/11/24 for children in our Wednesday night RE program and 1st Holy Communion for both Sacred Heart School students and Sacred Heart RE students on 4/26/25.
Confirmation classes are held on one Sunday per month following 8 AM Mass in the assembly room. These are sessions specific to Confirmation and are to be attended by 10th graders (accompanied by either a parent or their sponsor) in addition to the regular Wednesday night classes, who will then receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in the spring of their 10th grade year. These dates will be listed on the In-Person Calendar linked above as they are set by the Archdiocese. Confirmation will be celebrated at one Mass for all parishes in Jackson County in Bellevue this school-year (2025).

Every year the Optimist Club provides flags to subscribing members of the Community, and Community youth clubs and organizations help to provide the legwork under the supervision of Optimist Club members to set them up and take them down for each of the 5 flag holidays throughout the year. In return, the Optimist Club makes a monetary donation to each club. Sacred Heart has provided teams for 2 routes on every flag holiday for the last several years, and we've been asked to do that again this year.
We use the funds raised primarily toward our NCYC trip every two years. For each route, we need to provide either 2 high school students or 1 middle school student plus a parent. It is also permitted for 2 parents to be a team. For families who don't have any students who will be attending NCYC in the future, the funds earned can be used toward Wednesday night Youth RE tuition or can be donated to the general youth ministry program.
Please click this link for the sign up to help out. Fill in the names of the helpers who will be present, and include phone numbers.
